Bannings honored at the 2024 Legacy Gala

PORTLAND – Chris and Sue Banning were recognized as the winners of the “Leaving a Legacy Award” at the 2024 Legacy Gala for Stay Positive News.

The event was held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at The Barn at Spring Lake Farms on Happy Hollow Road just outside Portland.

Award winners were recognized at the event after nominees for each category were announced to the audience. The evening featured a dinner, a live auction, and money raised from the event benefitted Wellhouse Church, Isaiah 117 House and TN Voices.

Award winning songwriter Josh Osborne served as the emcee for the event, Ed Cope was the live auctioneer and SMS Multimedia handled photography and media. The event was sponsored by Well House Church, Mark Reid Insurance, CEMC Cumberland Connect, TriStar Northcrest Medical Center, Tal Plumlee and Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee, Southern Welcome hometown decorating services and Hometown Connect, Middle Tennessee’s local list. Catering was provided by The Red Goose. There was a presenting booth from Grace and Faith Permanent Jewelry, and table sponsors included Tate Ornamental, The White House Area Chamber of Commerce, SMS Multimedia, Allison Pools and Outdoors, Leasing Systems Inc., The Hole, Blood Assurance and Flex Space.

The Leaving a Legacy Award was one of six awards presented at the event. The recipient of this award demonstrated positive leadership throughout multiple places in the community, and additionally have inspired and influenced in such a way that they will continue to leave a positive legacy for many years to come. They have gone above and beyond, time and time again, to serve and improve their community and be a role model for many others.

After serving in White House as chiropractors for 15+ years, Chris and Sue Banning had a vision to start a home care for challenged adult men! They launched The Way Maker Place at the end of 2023 and have impacted the lives of men already. They also will serve wherever they can in the community giving up their time for the people around them.

Other nominees for this category included Nathan Harmening, of I Am Next and the Omni Family Foundation, and Tiffany Thompson of Robertson County Recovery Court and the Safe Baby Court Coordinator.
